Jamie Azdair Wins Zug Award
Congratulations to Jamie Azdair, Eagle Football Class of 2009, on being awarded the Zug Award presented by the First Friday Friars Club. Jamie received the award on April 3, 2009 for epitomizing, "a belief in God, love of family, civic duty and of course, football." Other Eagle Alumni who received the award include: Ron Mehrens (1991); Ryan Korinke (1995); Ryan Sim (1997) and Thomas Hull in 2006. Coach Jacot and the coaching staff would like to join the entire Eagle Football family in congratulating Jamie on this outstanding achievement!
AJ Cruz Honored
The Orange County Chapter of the National Football Foundation (NFF) and College Hall of Fame recognized AJ Cruz of Santa Margarita Catholic High School (SMCHS) as one of the top football scholar-athletes in Orange County at the Anaheim Convention Center on Monday, March 9 at its 39th Annual Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet. Additionally, AJ was selected a Scholarship winner. More recent SM honorees have been Matt Browning, Ryan Maxwell, Eric Reisinger and Charles Taylor, all Class of 2007 and Thomas Hull, Class of 2006. AJ has committed to football at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.

Santa Margarita capitalizes by scoring 19 points on JSerra mistakes. QB
Ryan World was 6-12 for 124 yards. K Robert Maniachi added
3 Field Goals.
Orange Lutheran 49 – Eagles 24
QB Ryan World and Greg Beaudoin led the Eagles offense. World finished
with 215 yards passing and Beaudoin had 123 yards receiving
on five catches, including a 51-yard touchdown.
Mater Dei 57 – Eagles 28
Santa Margarita trailed by a touchdown at halftime in its upset bid of No.
3 Mater Dei, but the Monarchs strong second half carried
them to a 57-28 victory in Trinity League action Friday night
at Saddleback College.
Servite 39 – Eagles 19
QB Ryan World threw for 296 yards, three touchdowns and an interception,
on 23-of-39 passing. But after the Eagles’ late first-half
run, they scored only once in the second half, on their second
St. John Bosco 47 – Eagles 21
The Braves (6-0) beat the Eagles (2-4) for the first time in four years.
QB Ryan World completed eight passes for 170 yards and two
touchdowns for the Eagles.
Eagles 31 – Chapparal 42
Santa Margarita gave up four touchdowns in the second quarter and was beaten
by Chaparral of Temecula, 42-31, at Saddleback College on
Friday. QB Ryan World finished with 207 yards passing.
Eagles 18 – La Costa Canyon 14
Santa Margarita QB Ryan World threw a 26-yard TD poass to Logan
Sweet with 16 seconds remaining, and the Eagles win it, 18-14
against La Costa Canyon of Carlsbad.
Foothill 30 – Eagles 26
The Eagles lose to the Foothill Knights on a 37-yard field goal with
Eagles 42 – Poway 20
Eagles win a 42-20 victory over Poway, the defending San Diego County CIF Champions.
Quarterback Ryan World threw for 337 yards and tied Carson
Palmer’s single-game school record of 5 TD passes.
St. Bonaventure 35 – Eagles 14
The Eagles lost their opening game to host St. Bonaventure. Sr. QB Ryan
World finished with 239 yards on 18-of-31 passing, including
two touchdowns and two interceptions. WR Gavin Escobar had
nine catches for 162 yards and a touchdown.
