Santa Margarita Eagles Football Kyle Bryant to play in the OC All-Star Game
WR Kyle Bryant was chosen to play for the South Team in the annual Orange County All-Star Game. The game annually features the top 72 graduated football players in Orange County.

QB Jon Daniels, OL Mason Frakes, LB Michael Rusert, and DL Ross Cumming were named 1st Team All-Serra League. WR Jacob Gordon, WR Kyle Bryant, DL Tom Roby, and DB J.D. Dawson were named 2nd Team.

Colton 29 - Eagles 24
Allen Bradford ran for 138 of Colton’s 434 yards and scored a touchdown but more importantly made a game saving interception with just 1:34 remaining to give the fourth seeded Colton Yellowjackets an exciting 29-24 win over the Eagles in the first round of the CIF-SS Division I playoffs at Colton High. Jacob Gordon had nine catches for 82 yards. QB Jon Daniels was 20-35 for 155 yards and two TDs. Senior LB Colby Rodgers led the defensive charge with 13 tackles while junior safety J.D. Dawson finished with 12.

Eagles 20 - Loyola 15
The Eagles, with their backs to the wall posted one of their most impressive, and important, road victories ever as they defeated the Loyola Cubs 20-15 before 2,200 fans at Pierce College. The win improved the Eagles to 5-5, 2-3 but more importantly allowed them to qualify for one of the four Division I at-large payoff berths. On offense QB Jon Daniels (18 of 35 for 236 yards), Kyle Bryant (six for 89 yards), and sophomore Ryan Maxwell (five receptions for 66 yards) stood out. Defensively Ross Cumming (3.5 sacks, fumble recovery) and JD Dawson (forced a fumble) stood out. Solid defensive efforts were also put in by Rusert (nine tackles, ½ sack and one forced fumble), Sean Aldridge and Steinbach (10 tackles apiece) and junior cornerback Connor Plante (two tackles and a fumble recovery).

Eagles 25 - Servite 20
Jon Daniels completed 21 of 28 passes for 225 yards, Omar Villamar ran for two scores and Jonathan Castillo picked up a career-high 16 tackles as the Eagles rebounded from three consecutive heartbreaking losses to defeat the Servite Friars 25-20 before 3,000 at Cal State Fullerton. In addition to Castillo’s record tackle haul for a cornerback junior defensive end Ross Cumming earned Player of the Game honors for his nine tackle, one sack effort. Bryan Redsun and Colby Rodgers chipped in eight apiece.

The Eagles lose their 3rd straight Serra League matchup of the year, this time against the St. John Bosco Braves. The Braves came from behind in the 4th Quarter with a game clinching interception for a touchdown.

The Lancers score on the last play to win the game. The Eagles were unable to put any points on the scoreboard in the 2nd half. Offensively QB Jon Daniels threw 3 TDs and 2 Interceptions.

Mater Dei 7 - Eagles 6
Senior captain Sean Aldridge enjoyed another strong game as the linebacker collected five tackles, a sack and broke up two passes to earn Defensive Skill Player of the Game Honors. Tom Roby earned Offensive and Defensive Lineman of the Game for his efforts, which included three tackles. Senior linebackers Colby Rodgers and Mike Rusert also made major contributions as they added 15 and 14 tackles apiece. Bryant for his part collected his third Offensive Skill Player of the Game in five weeks.

Santa Margarita used solid efforts on offense, defense and special teams to build a 24-0 fourth quarter lead before coasting a convincing 38-12 win over the Foothill Knights before 4,000 fans on Homecoming. The win avenged a disappointing 35-28 loss the Knights in the 1992 CIF Playoffs an improved the Eagles to 3-2 heading into Serra League play. Omar Villamar rushed 18 times for 79 yards. QB Jon Daniels was 10 of 14 for 99 yards.

The Eagles score the game winning touchdown in overtime raising their record to (2-2). Offensively Omar Villamar ran for 2 touchdowns. Defensively Tom Roby's crucial tackle behind the line of scrimmage and caused fumble led to an important touchdown in the 3rd quarter.

The Eagles offense moved the ball consistently but was unable to put the ball in the endzone. Defensively the Eagles kept the game close 7-0 for the first 3 quarters. Special teams came up big blocking a Lancer punt.
