Redlands - Game Notes

The Redlands game marks the Eagles first road contest of 2003 and their first ever visit to Ted Runner Stadium on the campus of the University of Redlands.

The St. Paul game marked the debut of new Eagle Head Coach Mike Jacot. With the win Coach Jacot starts off 1-0. Former Head Coach Jim Hartigan fell 50-14 to Trabuco Hills in his first game in 1989.

2002 (Week 2) SM 38, Redlands 14 @ Saddleback College

The Redlands opened the 2003 season with a 30-3 loss at Yucaipa.

With the win over St. Paul the Eagles have now gone 8-0-1 in their last nine season openers, and 11-3-1 overall since their first varsity team in 1989. Their last opening game loss was in 1994 when they fell 17-12 at Trabuco Hills. They have not lost a season opening game at Saddleback College since falling 50-14 to Trabuco Hills in their inaugural game in 1989.

This is the second game between Santa Margarita and the Redlands Terriers. In 2002, Ashton White carried 29 times for 180 yards and Chase McWhorter added 108 on 14 carried as the Eagles controlled the clock and posted a 38-14 win over the Terriers before 5,500 at Saddleback College. Redlands finished the 2002 season 7-4 and finished second in the Citrus Belt League. They advanced to the CIF Division I playoffs where they lost 35-32 to Bishop Amat. They are led by 12th year coach Jim Walker who is 82-44 (.651) at Redlands. Coach Walker is 0-1 vs. Santa Margarita.
