Matt is having a monster season and is a soild All-league, All-County and All-CIF candidate The junior standout picked up six tackles against Loyola including a key stop in the backfield on an attempted fumbleroosky. Matt registered one sack and three tackles at Servite. He now has 9 ½ sacks and 33 tackles on the season. He has 17 career sacks and needs one sack to set the new career mark and 4 ½ to set a new single season record. Matt registered ½ sack and eight tackles against St. John Bosco. Rupp tied a record-tying four sacks at Trabuco Hills. Matt also had 1 ½ sacks, 1 ½ decleaters and a fumble recovery at Fountain Valley in Week 4. Rupp recorded two decleaters and 1 ½ sacks vs. Dorsey, and in Week 2 he picked up a team-high three decleaters vs. Redlands. Matt was a dominating force on both offense and defense vs. El Modena as he recorded a team-high 2.5 decleaters from his guard spot and two tackles including a sack playing defensive tackle. He is third on the team with 11 decleaters. His 17.0 career sacks are 2nd best on the all-time list.

In 2001: Matt finished with 53 tackles, 7 ½ sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery and earned All-Serra League honors. Rupp picked up a career-high nine tackles vs. Tustin. Enjoyed his most memorable game against Loyola where he collected seven tackles and 2 ½ sacks. Recorded four tackles and a forced fumble in his first varsity start against Ayala in Week 1 and followed that up by collecting five tackles and 1 ½ sacks at Los Alamitos in Week 2 then eight tackles and a sack at Lakewood in Week 3. Made a critical fourth quarter sack vs. Mater Dei to help seal an important 33-19 victory. Earned Defensive Lineman of the Game honors vs. Los Alamitos (twice) and Loyola.

Misc: Rupp has emerged as a legitimate Division I-A recruit for 2004. He is a member of the 900 lb and Strength Eagle Clubs and can bench press 295, power clean 275, squat 425 and run the 40 in 4.85.
