Marshall has enjoyed a breakout season after patiently waited for his chance behind standouts Chris Rix (Florida State) and Matt Dlugolecki (Illinois) for the past two years. Tharpe completed five of ten passes including six-yard Td pass to Dustin Slinkard to tie the game in the second quarter. The senior signal caller has completed 63.4% of his passes for 1,361 yards and 14 Tds with only five interceptions. Tharpe has also posted an impressive 149.4 QB rating. In Week 10 Tharpe completed seven of 16 passes for 137 yards and rushed for another 12. Against Mater Dei, Marshall completed seven of 10 passes for 111 yards and two scored. Marshall's streak of 90 consecutive passes without an interception ended in Week 8, but was still tied for the fourth best in school history. In Week 5, he completed a record tying 23 passes and a career-high 297 yards vs. Tustin, and threw a career-high four touchdown passes at Lakewood in Week 3. His season and career completion percentages are on pace to break Carson Palmer's school records.

Marshall Saw action is several games and completed four of six passes for 62 yards. His QB rating of 153.5 led the team.

Misc:
Marshall has wowed scouts with his speed (4.40) and arm strength in the off-season, and has made a verbal commitment to Colorado State. Tharpe was recognized as one of the top QBs at the 2001 Nike Combine at San Diego State in April. Marshall has consistently run 40s in the low 4.4's and has impressed the coaches with his strength registering a squat of 335, a bench press of 215 and a power clean of 230.
