The Eagle running game has been productive in 2000 averaging 218.2 yards per game and posting 6.5 runs of over 10 yards per game. They averaged 6.1 and in both 1998 and 1999.
Santa Margarita has converted an amazing 280 of their past 317 kicks (.883) since the 1996 season. In 2000, they are 33 of 37 in PATs, and 4 of 10 in field goals. In the past 53 games, they have blocked 27 kicks, and allowed only 83 successful PAT kicks.
The Eagles have downed 19 punts inside the opponent's 20 since the start of 1999, against only three touchbacks.
With eight wins, the Eagles are guaranteed a winning season for the 11th time in 12 seasons. The Eagles have also never had a losing season. Their worst record was a 5-5 mark in 1994.
Santa Margarita's 28-game winning streak was four wins from tying the County mark of 32 set by Edison from 1979-81. At the time the 28-game streak was the second longest streak going in the State, behind Concord De La Salle.
The Eagles advanced to the CIF Championship Game three times in the 1990's - winning twice (1996 and 1997) and losing once (1998).
