Spencer enjoyed a soild game against Irvine as he scored on a 10-yard run and broke up a pass. Spencer had the best game of his career at Tustin as the senior standout rushed 12 times for 131 yards and a touchdown while collecting 21 tackles on defense to earn both Offensive and Defensive Player of the Game honors. His efforts put him over the 1,000 yard mark and his performance was recognized in Cal-Hi Sports’ week 13 Newsletter. Spencer rushed for 100 yards and two scores at Aliso Niguel in Week 11. McCroskey enjoyed another fine defensive effort in Week 9 as he collected six tackles to earn Defensive Player of the Game for the fourth time this year vs. Irvine. Spencer gained 48 yards rushing, added a one-yard touchdown and registered four tackles in earning Defensive Player of the Game honors for his efforts at Newport Harbor. Spencer was the workhorse vs. CdM as he rushed a career-high 24 times for 112 yards and a touchdown to move into 4th on the Eagles all-time rushing list. McCroskey rushed for 125 yards on 21 carries and scored two touchdowns including the game winner at El Toro in Week 6. McCroskey picked up four tackles, rushed 20 times for 84 yards and caught one pass for seven yards vs. Rancho Bernardo. Spencer was named Defensive Skill Player of the Game against San Clemente as he collected eight tackles. Spencer also rushed for 45 yards and caught a career-high two passes for 25 yards. McCroskey has his best game as an Eagle at Dana Hills as he rushed for a career-high 147 yards on only 16 carries, and recorded 13 tackles to be named Offensive and Defensive Skill Player of the Game. He was also honored as Cox Communications Player of the Game. Spencer scored his first touchdown of the season, intercepted his second pass and returned it 40 yards, and collected five tackles vs. Carlsbad. McCroskey earned Offensive Player of the Game honors as he rushed for a team high 90 yards on 16 carries (5.6 avg.) vs. Dominguez. Defensively, he collected three tackles, and picked off a pass with the Eagles trailing 8-7 helping to spark the go-ahead TD.

1997: Spencer contributed significantly on both sides of the ball last year in various capacities including QB, RB, and WR and as a safety and special teams contributor. McCroskey finished third on the team in rushing with 297 yards and five rushing Tds, and completed three of six passes for 26 more yards. Spencer was named a Player of the Game for his efforts against Katella as he rushed for 28 yards, recorded a tackle and posted five special teams tackles. At El Modena, Spencer rushed for 43 yards including a season long 30-yarder, recorded a sack and recovered a fumble for a touchdown.

1996: McCroskey saw action in all 14 games and rushed for 113 yards on 24 carries (4.7 average) and recorded a career longest 50-yard run against Fountain Valley. Spencer returned one kickoff for 18 yards.

Misc: McCroskey was listed as one of the top returning running backs in the County according to Gridiron Magazine, and is a War Eagle. He is 4th on the Eagles all-time rushing list with 1,471 yards. Spencer is 13th in fumble recoveries with two, and 11th in career scoring with 96 points. McCroskey has a 4.71 40 time and a 4.43 pro agility. He also can bench press 230 and squat 385. Spencer was a member of the Eagles’ 1997 Sea View Champion baseball team. McCroskey has a 4.20 GPA and received the Eagles’ 1996 Academic Award.
