| Johnnie Walker has emerged as one of
the Eagles top prospects for 2001 after a stellar junior campaign
where he earned All-Serra league honors and Co-Special teams Player
of the Year honors as he set school records for longest punt return
(67 yards) and most kick return touchdowns in a season (2). He is
the Eagle's fastest player and is expected to make an impact on
offense, defense and special teams.
2000:
Johnnie started at both wide receiver and
punt returner picking up six receptions for 89 yards, collecting
31 tackles and 2 fumble recoveries, registering six special teams
tackles and returning punts for a 24.5-yard average with two touchdowns.
Walker earned Player of the Game honors twice (Lakewood and A.B.
Miller). In Week 11, against A.B Miller, Walker returned a punt
67 yards for a score breaking his own record of 60 yards set in
Week 3. he also added four tackles and a reception for 20 yards.
Johnnie collected a season high six tackles in the Servite, Mater
Dei, Lakewood, Los Alamitos and Ayala games. Against Alemany in
Week 7, Johnnie caught two passes including an 11-yard score.
Against Mater Dei Walker caught two passes for 40 yards and returned
a punt 24 yards. In the Lakewood game, Walker picked up six tackles
and returned a punt 60-yards for a score to tie Billy Newman's
school record, and in Week 2 he logged a 28-yard return vs. Los
Alamitos.
1999:
Walker collected six tackles including a season
high five at A.B. Miller He also added two receptions for 33 yards
including a 25-yard catch at Carlsbad.
Misc:
Walker set a school record in the 40-yard
dash with a blazing time of 4.32 in early May. He has also registered
times of 4.35 and 4.37. Johnnie looked great at the Nike Combine
at San Diego State in April running a 4.47 40 and posting a vertical
jump of 29". Walker has one of the top squats on the team
at 375 pounds and has bench pressed 265 and power cleaned 250.
He is 16th on the career fumble recoveries list, 40th in career
receiving, 44th in career scoring and 68th in career tackles.
