The Eagles who are ranked #3 in OC ended the game with a 56-0 season-opening victory over Long Beach Jordan on Friday night at Saddleback College. The defense racked up 9 sacks and Jr QB Johnny Stanton was 7/16 for 156 yards while also running for 59 yards on 9 carries. More Info.

Santa Margarita has been ranked No. 10 in the state by Cal-Hi Sports in its preseason high school football rankings. Expectations are definitely on the rise for the Eagles in their second season under head coach Harry Welch, who has won CIF state football titles at two other schools. Last year’s team suffered close losses to both Mission Viejo and Servite and had four players earn All-State Underclass recognition. Offensive tackle Max Tuerk (6-6, 265) is one of the best in the nation while three Eagle sophomores were on the all-state sophomore team: tackle Riley Sorensen (6-5, 320), quarterback-defensive back Johnny Stanton (6-3, 210) and receiver River Cracraft (6-0, 180).
