After two seasons as a backup, Rowell will fight for a starting role at linebacker this fall...one of the most dedicated athletes on the team, he has a great love for the game, according to Volek...goes after the quarter-back and stuffs the run as well...named the Defensive Scout Team co-MVP along with Anthony Daisley fol-lowing the 1998 season.

2000 Season: Appeared in all 11 games at linebacker...spent the majority of the season as the backup to All-American Anthony Daisley...finished the season with 12 solo tackles and three assists for a total of 13.5...recorded at least one tackle in nine games...tallied two solos and three assists at Northern Arizona in the last game of the year...had two unas-sisted tackles against Cal Poly and Montana State...was credited with one tackle for a four-yard loss at Idaho State.

1999 Season: Started three games at the outside line-backer position and recorded statistics in nine games...finished the year with 12.0 tackles (six unas-sisted) and one tackle for loss...recorded a season-high six tackles (three unassisted) in the season opener

1998 Season: Sat out the year as a redshirt. High School: A 1998 graduate of Santa Margarita High School in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif...playing as an undersized defensive lineman in high school, he earned all-CIF Division V honors as a senior...was named first team all-Seaview League as a senior and second team all-league as a junior...helped guide his team to a combined 27-1 record over his final two years...his team won the Southern Section Division V title in each of those years...played in the North/South Orange County All-Star game...also competed as a sprinter on the track and field squad.

Personal: Born 2-15-80...parents are Joe and Shelley...major is psychology...a Big Sky all-academic selection in 1999...his sister, Stacey, plays soccer for Sacramento State.
